Richmond Beats Albany!
And, no, This is not a Youth Soccer Story
The often maligned city of Richmond is composed of many different neighborhoods, some not so good maybe, but others truly great. The community of Richmond North and East (bounded by 24th to the west, San Pablo Avenue to the east, Barrettt on the south and the city of San Pablo to the north) is one of these great ones. It's an area of modest two, three, and four bedroom homes in a variety of architectural styles sited on mostly level lots. The weather is reported to be one of the best microclimates in the east bay, so there are many flourishing backyard vegie gardens. The homes are also very affordable, and, as many of my son's friends marry and start families of their own, they see that North and East is an affordable and attractive choice for their housing needs. I've helped many find wonderful homes in North and East.
I bring it up today because I read that Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has selected Richmond for their second campus. There was heavy compitition between several sites, one of which was Albany (hence the title). Hopefully, this will bring jobs to Richmond, which will bring people who need to fill both the jobs at the labratory and jobs in adjuct businesses like restaurants, shops, and markets. Those modestly priced North and East homes will very likely add value with this growth.
I hope so. I know that the homes I found for my North and East buyers satisfy their vision of the American Dream. That's a good enough investment as it is, but if the home prices go up as a result of more business coming to Richmond, these sweet homes might be a good financial investment as well.
22 Windsor will be open this Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00. Don't just take a look at the house. Walk around the neighborhood and see how wonderful it is to live in Kensington. Remember, the price has been reduced to $860,000. Last Sunday a lot of admiring people came through. Don't miss a chance to see this gorgeous place!
